Twelfth Night

(Or What You Will) by William Shakespeare

performed by Sun & Moon Theatre

‘In delay there lies no plenty … youth’s a stuff will not endure’

Christmas 1917. As the First World War wages on, those back at home in Illyria try to forget, seeking distraction through frivolity, solace, and companionship. But when refugee twins from Messaline, Viola and Sebastian, are shipwrecked and separated, they shake up this grief-stricken community.  Conscious of life’s brevity, Shakespeare’s characters seize the day, resulting in mistaken identity, folly and love. Enriched with passion, wit and live music, this is a vibrant and intimate production of Twelfth Night (or What You Will). Warm yourself up this winter and enjoy this festive take on Shakespeare’s most delightful and thought-provoking comedy.

Sun & Moon Theatre’s Twelfth Night (or What You Will) has been revived by popular demand. The original sold-out production from February 2017 was hailed as ‘Compassionate and intelligent … inspired’ (☆☆☆☆ RemoteGoat) and ‘Excellent’ (☆☆☆☆ Exepose) by critics and as ‘wonderful’‘superb’ and ‘totally clear and intensely funny’ by audiences.

The production has since then played at various venues around the country including Bristol, Barnstaple, Bath, Exeter and in Stratford-upon-Avon at the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Dell Open Air Theatre.

Sun & Moon Theatre was founded in 2013 by Year Out Drama Company and University of Exeter alumni. They are invested in Shakespeare and ensemble work, specialising in using First Folio scripts. In their winter mini tour they will also be performing in Bath (The Mission Theatre, 3rd and 4th November) and Exeter (The Cygnet Theatre, 15th and 16th November). They are excited to be performing at Tiverton Community Arts Theatre for the first time!
