The Ugly Duckling & Other Tales

Hans Christian Anderson’s most loved story with magical puppetry and music

On a lake somewhere not far away, a mother duck is sitting on her eggs. But one doesn’t look like the others; it’s a different shape, a brighter colour and is much, much bigger! What will happen when the egg hatches and what stories will hatch with it?

Join Above Bounds Theatre Collective as they explore one of the most loved Hans Christian Anderson stories using songs, shadow puppetry and a little of your input to tell this famous tale. Come along on the journey with our Ugly Duck; there’s sure to be gasps, laughs and a few surprises along the way.

The Ugly Duckling & Other Tales is the culmination of a research and development project led by Helen Bovey in collaboration with writer George Boundy and musician Emily Snee. The project is supported using public funding by The National Lottery through Arts Council England, with project partnership from Worboys Productions and the Bike Shed Theatre. In 2017, the Company were awarded the encoreinsure.com bursary for the Brighton Fringe.
